Trustee Candidates 2026
Backgound
The Board of Trustees of the BSC currently has two open positions that need to be filled as soon as possible. To that end, a nominating committee was selected, consisting of Sheila Criswell (Chair), Chad Fagan, and BSC member Lamar Jones. They in turn identified five candidates to fill existing vacancies. Each of them submitted a brief cv, and Zoom interivews were then conducted between each candidate and existing members of the board of trustees. We are now finalizing an online ballot so that all BSC members have an opportunity to vote on them. They are listed below; clicking on each name will bring you to a brief description of their backgrounds, as well as links to their cv and an AI generated summary of their Zoom interviews.
Please read these materials carefully. You will be asked to vote for the three candidates that you feel are most suited to become trustees. After you have reviewed them, be sure you are logged into your account and then cast your ballot here. Balloting will remain open until Monday May 18 at 5:00 PM. The top two vote getters will then be invited to join the board.
Luis Chiriboga
Luis Chiriboga, PhD is a histology scientist who has worked in both the clinical and research setting. He has a strong base in regulatory requirements and is familiar with state and regional laws. He has worked in the clinical laboratory but is now working in research. His strengths are in communication, both within a laboratory and with outside contacts, and in problem solving. He is the head of the public policy taskforce for the National Society of Histotechnology. He suggests looking into the equivalent of RRID (research reagent identifiers) for certified dyes. His articulation skills and regulatory knowledge commend him as a candidate for membership on our Board of Trustees.
Elizabeth Chlipata
Elizabeth Chlipala is a histology scientist who has worked in both the clinical and research setting and is currently the owner of a small clinical research organization who assists researchers conduct the histology laboratory testing portion of their experiments and digital slide scanning. She has extensive financial experience as well as technical know-how and regulatory knowledge and participates as a good laboratory practices (GLP) lab. She feels strongly that certified dyes are key components in staining procedures. She offers a multitude of suggestions and talking points to expand the reach of the BSC. Her articulation and business/financial knowledge coupled with her laboratory abilities commend her as a candidate for membership on our Board of Trustees.
Philip Faulkner
Philip Faulkner is a histotechnologist with over 25 years of experience. He is familiar with both manual and automated staining procedures, and he understands the value of certified stains. At present, he is a supervisor in the Histotechnology Laboratory in Aurora CO, where he directs a staff of 20 technicians, and he is currently president of the Colorado Society of Histotechnologists. Overall, his experience and enthusiasm make him an appropriate candidate for membership on the Board of Trustees.
Colleen Forster
Ms. Colleen Forster is a histology scientist with over 35 years of experience in the field, first with 7 years in a clinical laboratory, then 30 years in a research laboratory, and more recently as the director in a start-up histology laboratory. She has extensive knowledge of performing special stains by hand and how to troubleshoot them. She has a high regard for dyes certified by the Biological Stain Commission and routinely attempts to purchase them for laboratory use if available. She believes the BSC could benefit with more members if there were a greater presence on social media. Her expertise histotechnology and enthusiasm commend her as a candidate for membership on our Board of Trustees.
Eduardo Rosa Molinar
Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez-Molinar is a professor of Cell Biology & Physiology and Neuroscience at Washington University in St. Louis, where he also directs the Center for Cellular Imaging. He has been involved with the BSC as a member for over 20 years, attends our annual meetings regularly, and currently serves on the editorial board of Biotechnic and Histochemistry. His research uses optical and electron microscopy to study neural connections, and the center he directs performs a wide variety of procedures related to cellular imaging. His expertise and enthusiasm make him an excellent candidate for membership on our Board of Trustees.
