44th Annual BSC Conference (2025)

Introduction

The Biological Stain Commission and Georgia State University invite you to attend the 44th annual symposium of the BSC.  The theme of this year’s meeting is “Methods and Applications in Staining, Biomarkers, and Therapeutics“.  The symposium is open to scientists, researchers, medical professionals, and students of all levels who are engaged in the design, manufacturing and use of biological stains and biomarkers.

Date and Location

The symposium will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at the Georgia State University Student Center at 55 Gilmore St. in Atlanta, Georgia.  We will reserve a block of hotel rooms for attendees traveling from outside the Atlanta area; details are provided below.

Georgia State University is a public research university in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Founded in 1913, it is one of the University System of Georgia’s four research universities. It is also the second largest institution of higher education by enrollment based in Georgia with a student enrollment of around 50,000, including approximately 33,000 undergraduate and graduate students at the main campus downtown. The Department of Chemistry has research programs in all of the major areas of chemistry, and students have the opportunity to conduct research at the interface of chemistry and biology under the guidance of our dynamic research faculty.

Symposium Objectives

  1.  To foster collaborations among researchers, academicians, and industry professionals in the field of biological staining, biomarkers, and related therapeutics.
  2. To provide a platform for early career-stage researchers and students to showcase their work.

Benefits to Trainees

Trainees presenting posters will be able to develop and improve their  presentation and critical thinking skills, as well as presenting their work to researchers from various specializations of histology, biological markers, biological techniques, and molecular methods. They will be able to fine-tune their presentation to showcase to the audience from different backgrounds and answer questions they pose.

Fees

The registration fee for the symposium is $75.00, with a discounted rate of $25.00 for students.  The charge will be waived for all oral presenters and BSC officials.

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved for the nights of October 30 and 31 at the Residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Atlanta at 134 Peachtree St. NW for the special rate of $149 per night.  It is within easy walking distance of the conference venue.  Further reservation details will be posted as they become available.

Transportation

Atlanta is served by Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, one of the largest in the United States.  Train service is available on the MARTA red and gold lines from the airport to the Peachtree Center, a five minute walk from the hotel.  The current fare is $2.50 one way.

  • 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.  Scientific Symposium
  • 4:00 PM-5:00 PM.  Annual Business Meeting
  • 6:30 PM- 8:30 PM.  Dinner
